Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal was our arrival and departure point on the Galapagos Islands. Our home for the next 8 days, the G.A.P. Explorer I or Pelikan, awaited us in the harbour on the first day. We were also introduced to the "rubber duckies" which became our routine transport for every landing and boarding.

We also spent another day there later, dropping off some guest and picking up new ones. During this we made an early morning visit to a reserve in the highlands which is protecting and facilitating the breeding of the Galapagos Giant Tortoise native to San Cristobal.

A visit to the interesting Galapagos Information Centre and a walk up Frigatebirds Hill in the afternoon proved an enjoyable excursion.
